Thrift Shop Donations HOW TO DONATE TO DOGWOOD THRIFT SHOP All proceeds from Dogwood Thrift Shop go directly to Dogwood Animal Shelter, providing over half of the funding necessary to keep the shelter running! We take donations of ALL kinds including vehicles and boats! Happily, we receive thousands of pounds of donations nearly every day! Whew! That’s a lot of sorting!! **To help our staff (mostly volunteers!) process, price and display items quickly, please try to follow the guidelines below: Donations may be dropped off between 9am and 4:30pm Mon, Tues, Wed, & Fri. Hours on Thursday are Clothing, towels, rugs, pillows, drapes/curtains, bed linens, including comforters, bedspreads, etc must be clean, folded and packed in plastic bags. Purses and belts may be packed with clothing. All other items must be packed separately from the above.. Shoes should be packed separately from all other items in plastic bags or in boxes. Books & magazines should be packed separately from all other items. Stuffed toys should be packed in plastic bags, separate from other types of toy items. Furniture, especially upholstered things, mattresses carpets, etc. should be clean and free of odor and tears. These items will be inspected before entering the building. Household miscellaneous items may be packed in clean boxes (of easily manageable size please). Electronics of all kinds, cd’s, dvd’s, VHS & cassette tapes should be packed separately from other types of items. Items that are easily damaged by heat should be packed separately from other items. Labeling the box “no heat!” will also help us! Your donations are greatly appreciated! Landscaping maintenance Helping with promotion/adoption efforts Combing/petting/socializing dogs and cats Walking dogs Mopping/sweeping/cleaning Minor repairs jobs building/equipment Opportunities at dogwood thrift shop: Customer service Greeter at donation drop off area Processing donated items Creating displays Stocking & organizing shelves & clothing racks Delivery of donated items to shop Lawn maintenance Minor repairs to building/equipment Cleaning Opportunities for community outreach/fundraising: Distributing flyers and newsletters Helping staff our fundraising events Donation canisters Because dogwood animal shelter is funded entirely by donations, we must rely heavily on volunteers. Dogwood Animal Shelter is a 501c3 non-profit, donation funded, no-kill animal shelter and low cost spay/neuter clinic serving the lake area since 1976. Tax receipts for donated items are available upon request.

Remember your pet with a memorial tag. Tags may be engraved on both sides with your loving message and are available for a $25 donation. Our "fur-ever" forest will be an ever-evolving project, so your tribute to your pet's memory will always have a place of honor at the Shelter.
